    1. Four great artists the Brazilian twin brothers Gabriel Ba and Fabio Moon, Becky Cloonan and Vasilis Lolos tell four interlocking stories of tenants in a haunted house whose lives simultaneously fall apart Pixu The Mark of Evil should be awesome given the talent involved but it s a comic that is instead frighteningly tricky to understand and enjoy One guy goes through an obsessive cleanliness routine each day and then waits by the phone for someone to ring A woman breaks up with her boyfriend, fi [...]

    2. The rating average for this book is 2.92, and Sam Quixote hated it, but taking a cue from his playbook, I am going to play contrarian and say y all haters are wrong and like the heck out of it The 2008 Eisner Awardwinning team for Best Anthology Gabriel B and F bio Moon Daytripper , Becky Cloonan By Chance, Providence , and Vasilis Lolos The Last Call return with their latest collaboration, Pixu The Mark of Evil It s a horror comic and it s what I will call a tone poem, a graphic rendition of fo [...]

    3. It s hard for me to give a harsh review to a book written by artists whose work I ve very much enjoyed in the past That said, this book really didn t satisfy me as a reader This story was certainly atmospheric, with disturbing imagery and emotional scenes But honestly, I have no idea what was going on in the comic There are 4 5 people living in a house, and shit starts to get weird and I just don t know Someone s assaulted Someone s engaging in self mutilation Maybe There s a arcane practitioner [...]

    4. Reading Pixu I found myself often wondering how the collaborative process of making the book worked, exactly Did the creators work on the plot together Did they draw their sections in isolation Who was responsible for the direction of the book Despite my huge respect for each of the collaborators, I found the book to be unfocused and ultimately unsatisfying. The premise of Pixu is dynamite the residents of an apartment building suffer some sinister experiences, with each artist handling a differe [...]

    5. It takes a lot to shake me I am not some mousy librarian who can t hang, but there is something about Pixu that got to me After I read this I was completely creeped out Having all the horrible things in the world pedophiles, weird old guys who practice the occult, a psycho chick carrying the spawn of some kind of demon, and living in one building was enough to set my danger Will Robinson meter rising Add to that the general disjointedness of the storyline and some pretty graphic violence, and w [...]

    6. Freaky Builds mystery an suspense the old fashioned way by just telling you a story without narrating every step of the way Just shows you what s happening and lets you fill in the details as if we have a few spare brain cells to rub together or something I don t really understand it, and I m not sure if it s meant to be understood I mean, I follow what plot there is, but motivations and backstories are hard to infer from so little. Is it a literary success Probably It was an experience The end.

    7. a haunted house story told with the wonderful art of Ba, Moon there is some pretty disturbing content in here great read.

    8. Pixu The Mark of Evil is not a great horror comic, but it s not horrible either It has flaws, but it has strong points too.The best thing about Pixu is the art But when you realize that the creative team behind this book is made up of 4 great artists, you understand why the art is so good Pixu has an amazing atmosphere, you get scared by some imagery and some moments are really good in the emotional department. However, as I said at the beginning, Pixu has flaws The worst one The story and the ch [...]

    9. What s the story exactly The parts are fine, but their geographical proximity to each other isn t really that interesting.

    10. As a fan of classic comic horror like Tales from the Crypt, Creepy, and Vault of Horror, I didn t know what to expect from Pixu What I found was thought provoking, and a bit puzzling. The art in Pixu is rather solid The black and white palette is similar to Dark Horse s own Creepy and Eerie Nothing spoke out as beautiful or breathtaking, but it s style works for the imagery the story is attempting to provoke The story is a rather odd one It s about residents in a rented out house and their descen [...]

    11. I picked up this graphic novel on a whim, based on the strength of the artists involved, so than the genre I m not a horror fan The story is set in an apartment building, populated by various tenants whose lives intersect with horrifying results, and the artists Gabriel Ba, Becky Cloonan, Vasilis Lolos, Fabio Moon each illustrate one of the characters storylines On an customer review, the reader stated e tale itself is secondary to the haunting artwork, which I suppose is a pretty good summary [...]

    12. Well, I m glad I didn t spend any money on Pixu Mark of Evil For whatever reason I am drawn to both horror novels and horror comics so Pixu, a hardcover graphic novel no less, seemed like a good choice It seemed a bit too short to buy, so I went to the library Good for me.My main complaint is how insubstantial the story is If you your focus is on the pictures or art if you must you will get mileage than I did I however want story and there isn t much Here it is Five people live in a spooky apar [...]

    13. So I honestly don t have much to say about this one Pixu The Mark of Evil sets out to be dark and disturbing It s a tale about a group of people, linked by the darkness overtaking them, and all headed for certain destruction In theory, that sounds like a story that I d be all over In practice, it s very odd and than a little confusing. While I thought that the art in Pixu The Mark of Evil was a little rough, I actually did end up liking it after a while It sets the stage for malice and mystery T [...]

    14. A horror graphic novel about a group of people living in an apartment building who are haunted by something that causes them to do bad things to each other Despite the high caliber creative talent behind this one, the story never really came together for me There are some creepy moments and the art is fantastic Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba are two of the best artists working these days check out their wonderful series from Vertigo DC Comics Daytripper to see what I m talking about But this was just [...]

    15. First of all, I have a deeply inappropriate infatuation with B , Moon, and Cloonan In terms of execution, the three plus Lolos are incapable of bad work The panels drip with beautiful art and the characters vary seamlessly from B Moon s hyperbole and Cloonan s gorgeous realism, with a thick layer of horror permeating the entire novel But graphic novels do not stand upon their art alone The horror is the main character in the story all the other characters exist as vehicles for the horror to be k [...]

    16. So short I was able to read it twice on the train this morning Still only have the barest inkling of what is actually going on A house full of doomed occupants doing horrible things to try to protect themselves from an unseen and unknowable to the audience agent of destruction There s always the delicate balance of not revealing too much and comprehensive story that makes for an enjoyable horror story This almost goes too much into not revealing too much and we re not given what feels like a com [...]

    17. Meh A promising premise apartment building haunted by Evil, tenants going slowly whacko is never explored fully enough to scare us, make sense, or make us care A couple of interesting characters in the old man his granddaughter creation, but they aren t compellingly explored either I did think the character of Claire was satisfying Ba s artwork is nice, but not creepy, and certainly not as good as his work on Umbrella Academy or Daytripper This could make a good, creepy horror movie, if some thi [...]

    18. I was so excited about this book I love all of the authors and artists involved Sadly, I was met with an absolute mess of a story The plot is unclear There seems to be some kind of supernatural element, but that s about all that is ever established The art is wonderful, but I was disheartened to see drawings of a vaguely sexualized child there are hints that she has been molested, but because the sequence of events is so muddled, it s impossible to say for sure Wish I d skipped this one.

    19. I wish I could give this a higher mark because it has all the ingredients I look for in a horror comic Its disturbing , its creepy , its mysterious , and its just unsettling but I cant put my finger on why it didnt mesh I like Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on toast this is like having peanut butter , jelly and toast but cramming it into mouth instead of presenting it as a sandwich I dont know , that was a horrible analogy This is worth checking out , Im a little hesistant to recommend the 1 [...]

    20. I ve often quoted Mike Mignola s saying that any story of the supernatural should contain bits that are beyond human comprehension Not to sound like a hypocrite, but Pixu had too many of those bits for me.Often creepy as hell, with some great visuals, I nevertheless couldn t make heads or tails of what was happening Still, it was definitely an interesting horror comic I just wish the bits had been a little less beyond my comprehension.

    21. Pix is defined as the Mark of Evil The mark here brings out the obsession of each resident of this house.Had to read through this a few times once to get the general tenant of what is going on, two to catch each storyline and three to get the relationship between the stories Fortunately it is a fairly short book so multiple readings are not burdensome.e a matter of fact I think I am up for a fourth reading.

    22. Genuinely disturbing book about an apartment complex and the thing that intends harm Incredibly creepy It is an Asian inspired story done up by twins We know that twins are creepy, right So this is the story they came up with and with very little words you can revisit it a few times fairly quickly I m not sure you want to, though The concept keeps coming back to me, over and over I m left with the idea of evil as a contagion What if murder was a disease

    23. I think the art in this was super awesome I liked how the madness of whatever was taking over the apartment complex was depicted I liked the chaos and ambiguity of it However, I felt the story didn t feel fleshed out, and because it was so barebones, the descent of the whole apartment complex into madness felt rushed and sudden and any sort of supernatural dread that you were supposed to feel got lost in that rush So great art, cool concept, but flawed story execution.

    24. This was not great I really like Gabriel Ba and Fabio Moon and some of their stuff has been a little tricky to understand in the past, but this was than tricky I get the gist of the story, but that s it I don t understand why anything else happened or what the deal was with any of the characters.I also liked some of the art and hated other parts More than once I came to a frame that was clearly focusing on something, but I didn t understand what, no matter how long I stared at it.

    25. This is a haunting and quick read but extremely confusing Moon Ba have done much better work together I turned the pages quick enough, hoping some sense would come of it all but, no, I was left dazed It s about evil that engulfs this house and the people in it I m not sure if the house is the evil or if the evil first comes from the outside and enters the house But yeah, evil, murder, rape, pedophile, suicide, much Points for the creepy b w art.

    26. The page turner horror graphic novel about house and its five tenants They were not alone and soon the evil started to grow with happy agile need to kill them all in the various horrid ways, which were fitting to their personalities You learn one important thing never ever believe old man with cute granddaughter, who sells medicine It may be your last pill.

    27. The story was really fragmented, and bordered on incoherent It was very effective at creating a disjointed, chaotic, confusing atmosphere in conjunction with the art I found the story a bit difficult to follow, but this is a good example of the power that graphic novels have to create atmosphere and drama with a minimalistic plot line.
